Making time to enjoy the finer things

Making time to enjoy the finer things

In today’s fast-paced society, it’s become increasingly difficult to take the time to disassociate from the “business” aspect of my life, and just enjoy the moment. I personally find this extremely difficult; I’m a typical workaholic. I struggle with letting tasks go unfinished, and tend to go-go-go until my brain hurts. However, I am trying to make a conscious effort to “unplug” for a little each day, and spend time with my family, friends, and most importantly, myself. Therefore, I wanted to share my personal pledge to not feel guilty about some mild pampering. Now, some of you may think my choice of “me time” doesn’t sound all that appealing. To many, my little slice of sanity could very well be viewed as a “chore” to others. Nonetheless, today, I honored my vow to take time to enjoy some of the finer things life has to offer. “How did you do it?” you might ask. Well, I’ll tell you, without further ado: I went grocery shopping at Whole Foods. I didn’t just grab a hot meal, or pick up a unique, organic beverage. I perused every single aisle in that glorious upscale supermarket, picked out a variety of the most scrumptious treats, enough to last a while, and filled my cart to the brim. Then I ambled over to the checkout, took out my plastic magic wand that temporarily tricks me into believing I can redeem my bounty for free, I packed up my car, and drove away, shoving a glorious hunk of chewy, warm bread, freshly baked, into my mouth. Yes, shopping at Whole Foods is how I enjoy the finer things in life!whole foods bread
